Wholesome Eats: Fuel Your Body

Fueling Your Body

Do you ever wonder why some days you have so much energy you could burst, and other days even watching tv from the couch seems like work? Food fuels our body, and WHAT we eat is so very important to not only our physical health but, our mental health as well.

My List of Top 5 Foods and Why
  • Eggs: Eggs contain lots of B vitamins, and high quality protein to keep your body going during the day. Also, make sure you the yolk as that’s where most of the nutrients are.
  • Nuts:   Nuts have plant-based protein, fiber and healthy fats, nuts can be mentally energizing. Keeping our bodies going longer during the day
  • Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans: These beans provide our bodies with blood sugar-friendly protein,  fiber and good carbohydrates. These are so easy to use too! They can be added to salads, soups, hotdish and chili.
  • Quinoa: This is one of my favorite whole grains because it is packed with nutrients like fiber, vitamins and complex carbs that give our bodies energy. It is also very versatile, and can be used in salads, soup and more.
  • Bananas: I personally think that bananas may be one of the best fruits for energy. They contain a mix of complex carbs, potassium and vitamin B6, which can all boost your energy. There’s a reason why many runners eat these before running.

Water should, of course, be a no brainer in keeping our bodies fueled. Drinking enough water daily helps with keeping our brains more focused, our bodies less tired and our organs functioning properly.

When starting out with anything new, such as diet, start out small with incorporating those things into your routine. Everyone’s tastes are different and you will find those new foods that you really like.

Hoping these suggestions help you add some get up and go to your day!
